Pine + Bow Quilt Along Post #2: Meet Bow + Fabric Pull
We’re in week #2 of the Quilt Along! This week, let’s take a look at Bow.
The Bow quilt
Bow is my homage to a rainbow, and it’s such a fun project that I’ve already made 3 versions.
The first is the version in greyscale that I blogged about here. I loved the idea of doing a rainbow quilt in an unexpected palette.
This super colorful version came next (and I blogged about it here). How can working with this much color not be an exciting experience? This version is a great example of how you can make a big quilt without making it entirely full of blocks.
This version (blogged about here) was actually the very first version that I made while developing the idea. It’s an exploration of how bold fabrics can accent the design to create depth and interest.
My Bow fabrics for the Quilt Along
It’s that last project that is inspiring my fabric pull for this one that I’ll make during the quilt along. I’m wanting to use bold, big prints with some contrast and pops of color. Here’s what I’ve pulled so far.
There are some pieces from Karen Nyberg’s Earth Views collection for Robert Kaufman that really kicked things off for me. The fabrics show views of Earth from above, and I think they will be so great to cut up into these clean arcs for Bow.
That’s what I’m thinking. I have some background pieces cut out and some appliqué pieces ready to cut.
In this video, I share more about the projects I’ve made so far, the fabrics I’ve pulled for my project, and I’m also answering three more questions from you. If you’d like to submit a question for me to answer each week, you can do that here.
Head over here to see all posts so far in the Quilt Along.
Post pics of your project using the hashtag #pinebowQAL so I can see what you are making, and let me know what you think.
