Here’s a look at my sewing setup for Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP).
When doing FPP, it’s important to have your sewing, cutting and ironing stations within reach–as best as you can given the space you have!
I’ve tinkered around with mine over the years, and here’s where it stands at the moment. I pull my ironing board closer to my sewing machine so it’a within reach. My sewing machine (and extension table) is in the center, and my cutting station is to the right. The swivel chair helps me go from point to point.
FPP Supplies in my setup
// I love using a light table* and translucent mat* for cutting. The light table makes it so easy to see through your template.
// Rotary cutter, ruler (4″x14″ is usually my go-to*), iron
// Thread catcher for small scraps–free tutorial here
// Aurifil 50-wt cotton thread in neutral color. I match the value of my lightest fabric in the project.
// Bookmark or index card for folding the paper template
// Iron (with steam) and wool pressing mat
// Paper for templates. I like using recycled office paper.
That’s the setup!
