I have a new thread set with Aurifil! This one is made up of my appliqué favorites.
It’s a 10-spool set (300 yards each) of my favorite and most essential colors that comes in a sturdy cardboard box and printed sleeve. I hope you enjoy the montage of appliqué shapes and fabrics from many of my collections. Since I see this as such a go-to set, I liked exploring an enthusiastic montage of visuals.
80wt Cotton Thread
Aurifil 80wt cotton thread is my go-to for needle-turn appliqué. Ever since they came out with it years ago, I’ve been a fan. What I like most about it is how thin–but still strong–it is. The thread just disappears into your project, so much so that fewer colors will cover more bases. It’s the best.
The colors in this set are a wide-ranging mix to cover many bases. So often I’m working on projects with many different colors (because, why not?), which can get a little cumbersome when trying to have all of the thread colors on hand. I like to figure out the fewest pieces that can be used in the most places, and I mapped out this set to do just that.
Thread Gloss and Other Tips
To complete things, I love using Sew Fine Thread Gloss when I am using the 80wt. It adds just the right amount of strength to help you move along without having to worry about a lot of breakage. Plus, the scents are a fun way to add to the experience.
I have some more thread tips here, so check that out.
Otherwise, I can’t wait to see what you make with this set! It’s been loaded up and getting used in my travel case (this is the one shown above, but I’ve also been using this one) since coming together, and I hope it’s a good go-to for you too.
