Excuse me with a slight break from the Elate Quilt Along while I share some Memento bags and pouches. With the long weekend ahead, I thought it is a great time to share.

Memento Split Pouches
While I have shared this on instagram, I figured it should get a proper mention here. I love making split pouches, and the Memento canvas provided good reason to bust out a few more. I made 2 medium and 1 large size pouch.

Split Pouches are perfect projects for incorporating a sweet label (Matchy Matchy Sewing Club, Sarah Hearts and Kylie and the Machine are just some of my favorites) and special zippers. (See Stitch Supply Co for many of those.)

On each of these Split Pouches, I used my Memento canvas that I quilted with Soft and Stable using one of my computerized pantos with OESD. You can see all of my designs here.

On this pouch in particular, I’m very pleased with how the tracks print in my Memento collection works up as bias tape. Surprising good, right? I’m planning to make more bias tape in these prints to have on hand.

On the medium pouch, I incorporated the RSS selvage. I love including it, it’s such a fun detail.

The larger size is great for holding marking tools, larger scissors and more gear. The medium size is my perfect go-to handwork kit. I have my little scissors, a pincushion, some spools of thread and my thread gloss.

Favorite Project Pouch
The Favorite Project Pouch is one of many enticing projects in Rashida Coleman Hale’s latest book, Zakka Sewn*. It’s the first project I’ve made from the book, and I love it.

I should say that I made this bag some time before the split pouches. Seeing them together I notice how drawn to the orange tracks print from Memento I have been. It does make a nice accent!

This bag holds a surprising amount of stuff. I say surprising, because it didn’t necessarily seem that way until I had to keep adding skeins of yarn to fill it up. It didn’t budge!

The outside pockets are surprisingly gracious too. I love that they wrap all the way around and have snaps that add color as well as function. (My favorite snaps are here*.)

I’d not made a bag with handles like this, but it’s really smart.

I used another of the canvas Memento prints and worked in the selvage again at the bottom. The resulting weight is just right.

All The Things Tote and Buckthorn Backpack
I have shared these previously, so I’ll just quickly show them here. I liked the idea of including my Memento bags and pouches all together. Here’s the All The Things Tote, pattern by Knot and Thread. (Previously mentioned here.)

And my Buckthorn Backpack, pattern by Noodlehead, that I blogged about here.

Happy bag making, friends!
