It’s May 1, which means it’s Me Made May 2025. I love Me Made May. It’s always the perfect time to reflect on my handmade wardrobe. I love wearing things that I’ve made–nothing makes me feel more comfortable and more like myself. It’s the best! This year, I’m setting some new goals.

Today I’m wearing one of my favorite shirts–it’s the Kalle Shirt by Closet Core in one of my crosshatch fabrics. I’m holding a Shirts block (pattern here) to match. How could I not?
2025 Me Made May Goals
This year will look a little bit different. Instead of focusing on making new garments, I’m taking a look at the garments I’ve already made. My closet is stuffed and even though there are many things I no longer wear, I have trouble getting rid of them when they are clothes that I have made. These items are precious and hold many memories. I’m taking a hard look at the things in my closet that I no longer wear, and I’m going to do something with them! The options are to:
- Make alterations or adjustments if it’s a fit or style issue that’s easily fixable.
- Deconstruct garments that have special fabric or hardware that I want to save, reuse or re-purpose. Maybe I’ll cut similar shapes in order to sew back together as a quilt? Or maybe, I’ll pick a quilt block or motif to use? There are many directions I can take this idea.
- Donate items that are still wearable and don’t fall into either of the first two categories.

Shirts Quilt
The second part of this month’s challenge is to finish the quilt I started last year for Me Made May. The project needs to be quilted and bound. I should be able to do that this month, right?
I made a quick video if you’d like to take a look.
