There’s a new trade show in town, and it’s called H+H. I went to the first show in Chicago 4 years ago, and so I was pleased to get to go again this year. The show has grown so much! Here’s a look at H+H May 2026 show highlights.
In the Booth
Now that I’m with the Ruby Star team, I was there to hang out in their booth.
They had the newest collections featured from Rashida Coleman Hale, Kimberly Kight, and Jen Hewett, as well as a make-and-take which was a fabric corsage inspired by Jen’s newest collection, Corsage.
This corsage is made out of my newest collection, Memento. Cute, huh?
Of course, I can’t say no to a craft, so I made a few myself throughout my time at the show. This is just one of them.
They are so fun and cute to decorate your name badge, or bag. This bag is a All The Things Tote (pattern by Knot and Thread) that I made in Memento. (It also uses one of my designs with OESD!)
New Thread Collection with Aurifil
In addition to the Ruby Star fun, I had a special thread collection debuting with Aurifil in their booth. Meet Color Pop.
Sometimes you just need to add a pop of color to your project, and this is the set for that. The collection of 6 large 50wt cotton spools will be perfect for quilting and piecing. Now that I have it in hand, I’m eager to use them in some projects. I’m thinking about quilted Split Pouches, decorative top stitching and incorporating them into other accessories. All of the colors will complement any of my fabrics, especially Memento. Both of which are shipping in July. How’s that for good timing?
Other Show Snippets
I always love seeing my fabrics on a show floor. Modern Textiles featured Memento in their Checkered Paws pattern. What a great neutral palette they pulled from the collection! The inclusion of yellow adds a great pop.
It’s always great seeing Chrissy of Sew Lux, especially when she had a pouch made out of Memento to show me. Looks great!
And finally, it’s not a show without finding reason to make something to wear. For H+H this year, I was able to make a new jacket. I used the Overshirt pattern by Modern Sewing Co, and used a canvas print from Memento. It turned out so perfect. I love the weight, and I love the style and fit. It made a great show jacket because of all of the pockets–you can’t have too many when you are at a show! I was between sizes, and after much research (AKA instagram stalking) I decided to size down. That was a great decision, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
This will be a great project to make up in a different types of fabrics.
