Elate Quilt Along Week 6

Elate Quilt Along Week 6

It’s Elate Quilt Along Week 6, I have a finished quilt, and we’ve made it to the end!

This is my fifth Elate quilt, and I don’t think it’ll be my last. Each time I make this quilt, I’m reminded and inspired by the different ways I can take it. I quilted this one totally different than I’ve quilted any of the previous versions. I used straight-ish lines in a variety of changing colors. It gives it a beautiful texture as well as a personalized geometry.

Other Details

I think that the back is beautiful too. This Speckled fabric from Rashida Coleman Hale is the perfect shade, and I love how well it shows off the quilting.

Selecting a binding was tricky, because I could imagine a lot of good options, including the backing fabric. In the end I went with this print from Memento. The color is perfect, and the scale of the print works out very sweetly as binding.

I still need to add a label, but otherwise, she’s ready to go!

Thank you so much for being here, for joining and for following along. You are the best.

Your quilting looks fabulous thanks for sharing.
I have started. I am wondering about your thoughts on using one of the same Color fabrics in both A and B blocks. I would like to make a king size quilt. What do you recommend for a maximum numbers of fabric Color’s?

Hi Donna, thank you! As for using the same fabrics for A and B, yes, you can absolutely do this. In fact, I do this often, because I love the effect. As for the maximum number of fabrics and colors, I honestly don’t think there is an upper limit with this project. Go for it! If it’s starting to feel like to much, consider your layout and bringing harmony to it. Maybe organize by color, etc. Happy sewing!
