It seems like every year goes by in a flash, and 2015 was no exception. While wondering where it all went, I took a look back through my archives to find the best of 2015–an excellent exercise and something I encourage you to do as well, if you haven’t already. There is so much that I forgot happened this year! And although it went by quickly, it still seems strange how much of it seems so far away.
You’ll probably notice a few things that I haven’t shared yet. Keeping up with the sharing may not have been a strength for me in 2015, but I’m hopeful to improve on that in 2016. So stay tuned! I have plenty of stuff to share starting in January.

I am looking forward to improve my free motion quilting to a higher level
I am pretty excited about making more quilts in 2016! I love seeing where the year takes me as it goes along. I am thinking I need to do some looking back to 2015 too. I barely remember what I have done this year.
I’m so excited for 2016. Mostly for the arrival of our youngest son due in 5 days!
A highlight of my year was getting together with 13 other women, all of whom I met online, for a week long sewing retreat at a beach house in Virginia Beach… it was an amazing experience!
Looking ahead to 2016, I’m planning on polishing some techniques and learning new ones- like with the Collection Quilt. I would love to make that to hang on my wall. I love your work so much- it’s unlike anyone else’s! Highlights for this past year include joining a quilt guild my bestie started, doing my first two craft shows, and getting a brand new machine that I cannot wait to quilt all the quilts with next year.

I can’t wait to make the Envelope quilt for my grandmother because we love to write letters to each other! I hope to embroider our handwriting. She always signs her letters with stick figures!
Looking forward to my second grandchild in March, a sister for Shepherd!
Lots of sewing and quilting for them on my horizon – oh what fun!
I’d say my biggest highlight was finishing my first full-sized quilt…. in fact by the year end I’d managed to sew, quilt and bind three quilts! The one that was most satisfying was one I started about 15 years ago when I was in grade 7 or 8; talk about a long work in progress. In 2016 I’m looking forward to finally learning how to do some applique.
I’m looking forward to more slow stitching and learning to make jeans in 2016!
2015 was full of sewing retreats, so I’m hopeful 2016 holds more of the same!
Looking ahead to 2016, I would like to actually FINISH at least one of the “bigger than a mini” quilts that I have made tops for! I have been so intimidated by the finishing process – and I think the limited space in which I have to work definitely impacts my mental capacity to make it happen. I would also like to finish my Betsy Travel Bag! 2015 was a year of sewing growth for me – I learned how to do zippers and piping and made several different types of zipper pouches; I learned needle turned applique so that I could gift a mini as part of a swap (Aerial Grove FTW!); and I challenged myself with more complex paper piecing and loved the results. Happy New Year, Carolyn! Can’t wait to see what this year holds for you, too. Thank you for sharing your many talents with all of us!

I have been a member of the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild, since it’s beginning. 2015 was a banner year for the group, we formalized the guild, elected officers and became official members of the MQG. I can’t wait for 2016 and all of the awesome stuff that is planned for our guild. Carolyn, we would love to have you visit us.
I had two huge highlights this past year, Quiltcon and having a baby girl! Hopefully this next year will be equally exciting. Fantastic giveaway!
welcoming 2016 with our son marrying a wonderful gal, a trip to Ireland for my husband and myself and of course lots and lots of happy time in my sewing room!
My highlight for this year was learning to sew! I got my machine in February and it’s amazing how much I’ve accomplished since then! For 2016, I’m going to improve my bag-making skills, learn to garment-sew and work on my new-found love of applique!
I am looking back at a great but challenging year and I am enthusiastic about focusing my quilting this year on exploring new designs and stretching my creative limits. I love your fabrics and patterns. All the best to you for the new year!
This is dorky, but I’m excited that I get to spend more time with my husband in 2016. I changed jobs at the end of this year, so now I don’t have an hour commute each way to work and I get weekends off. We’ve never, even when we were dating, had weekends together. It’s exciting, except when I turn around and he and the cats are all crowded in my sewing room expecting me to entertain them! I’m looking forward to our (mis)adventures in 2016.

I reaaaally got into sewing this year, more than ever before. In 2016 I want to finish at least one quilt that I get to keep! Probably with Carkai, because I love it.
What I’m looking forward to in 2016 is having you present a program and workshop for our guild in April! (And then Jacquie Gering is coming in August)
My highlight this year has been getting through, happier and mentally healthier. The things I look forward to this coming year are finishing my La Passaglia, starting my Collection quilt and getting a new job!
The first highlight was a promotion to an interesting and challenging job. The second was 3 trips for quilting. It was fun to take classes from some of my favorite designers, like you, and to meet so many new people-lots of new skills and inspiration. The goal for 2016 is to take more time from a busy schedule to sew more.
I am so happy to see my Phased Circle quilt hang at Quiltcon and amazed to have published in LPQ and Quilt now….I am looking forward to more finishes in 2016 and playing with fabric. I loved your highlights above, you are an inspiration, Carolyn. Happy New year.
I need to balance my 12, count’em, 12 finished quilt tops (including one from Savor) and starting new projects. TIME is the issue. And I will continue my quest to own and then use a piece of every CF fabric ever manufactured. That is just pure fun. Raverne at Comcast dot net.
2015 brought about a big much needed move to be nearer the mountains, and now that I’m here I feel alive again! I’m looking forward to making more quilt tops and honing my piecing skills. I’m also hoping to learn both paper piecing and EPP this year.
I’ve been inspired all year by the use of color and scenery in your quilt designs, particularly Catenary and the Outhouse themes. Throughout 2015 I’ve learned new quilting skills, always with the idea that I could eventually acquire the confidence to sew Catenary. Maybe 2016 is my year!
I’m looking forward to two trips this year. I’m going to Glamp stitchalot in June, my first retreat of this kind! And, for spring break, I’m taking a girls trip with my 2 daughters. I hope the trip turns out well, tweens are delicate creatures.
I’m excited about the collection quilt that I just started (and plan on completing in 2016). And the Mighty Lucky Quilting Club… Looking forward to learning new skills from amazing teachers. Happy New Year!
2015 was the year of quilt shows for me & my Quilt Sisterhood! We attended QuiltCon, AQS -Paducah, KC Regional Quilt Festival, AQS-DesMoines, & IQF-Houston! The talent & creativity of the community of Quilter’s is inspiring. Looking forward to finishing up some works in progress & growing in my personal quilting skills.
I am excited about adding Carkai to my collection of your fabrics. I love the addition of a few saturated colors. I also love the Austin Houses and will have to make some to hang on my office wall. Can’t wait to see what you do in 2016! Thanks.
Highlights of my year – QuiltCon & GlampStitchalot – sewing and creating and meeting other people as crazy about creating as I am. Looking forward to creating some out of my comfort zone projects in 2016
Having my quilt accepted for Quiltcon 2015 was a personal highlight–seeing it hanging at the show in Austin was surreal! The year I’m looking forward to learning how to piece bias curves for a quilt I’ve been planning for over a year (with any luck it will show at quiltcon 2017!).
I have a couple of highlights for this year I got to go to Quiltcon in February and I have a new puppy which has severely reduced my sewing time! I’m looking forward to Quiltcon again and I’m going to meet you in class! Yea!!
2015 was wonderful, but I’m looking forward to 2016 I plan to learn more, try new things and let my quilts be a greater expression of me.

A highlight for me was taking what I considered a dreadful task, making T-shirt quilts for 2 granddaughters, and turning it into a fun project. And then seeing their looks of absolute delight! Truly turned lemons into lemonade!

I just bought Anna Graham’s Handmade Style, and I am looking forward to making some of the projects (which would all work so well with your fabrics). I got a new Juki sewing machine for Christmas (yay!) so I am looking forward to some happy sewing and growing my Etsy business. Happy New Year to you Carolyn! I loved getting together with my quilty friends for a weekend retreat – definitely a highlight! I didn’t sew as much in 15, so I’m looking forward to starting some big quilt projects for 2016…first up is a Pickle Dish Christmas quilt!
I just moved my sewing things to a new corner of the house so I’m looking forward to seeing how that works for me. I’m also looking forward to taking a few online classes for quilting,art and knitting . 2016 will be a year for growing new skills, taking the slower path, and breathing in the little things.
I am looking forward to 2016, My goals are many but I want to be content with what I have while improving my quilting.
I’m looking forward to making clothing in 2016. I’ve just started to get my feet wet in that area, and I can’t wait to play more.
This year I got more involved with my local guild, which is such a treat. Next year I’m hoping to hone in more on small projects, which I find myself gravitating towards, so I can develop my skills more.
Beginner quilter here and I’m super stoked to pump out some awesome projects, both big and small. I started dabbling in making mini pouches in 2015 but I want to get up into making more advanced items in 2016.

I’ve been quilting for 5 years and 2015 was an “a-haaaa year” or “turning point year” for me. It’s the year I’ve finally figured out my style. Can’t wait to continue to refine my style and hopefully enter my first quilt into Quilt Con. I love your fabric and style. You are of GREAT inspiration. I’m excited to continue to finish WIPs I have. I’ve joined a couple of swaps and excited to use the resources I have accumulated for smaller projects and enjoy the process and share with others with a passion for handmade items. 2015 is the year I stepped back from being an architect and became a mum, I don’t seem to have found the time to do anything else! 2016 is the year I’m determined to make my first quilt. I love your fabric, it reminds me of those all-nighters at university doing pen and ink drawings.

This one was a practice because I’m not a paper piecer and save one error where a branch is bigger than it should be, it is looking so good I’m going to make it into a table runner and keep it!

What an inspiring post! I’m looking ahead to taking stock and slowing down. In 2015, I finished my first hand appliqued quilt project (also a pattern from Savor Each Stitch) and I realized how much I enjoyed the process. I never thought the flow and mindfulness of making each stitch by hand would bring me so much joy! I hope to do much more of that in my sewing and life in general in 2016. Happy New Year, Carolyn! My highlights were finishing your Facing East quilt for my sister (first time paper piecing, hooray!), and a version of Arcs for my Mom. Another highlight was learning how to use a longarm quilting machine, which changed my game completely! This year I really pushed myself with my quilting, and I have a long list of things I’d like to accomplish next year including finishing my Collection Quilt. I’m looking to use the sewing machine a whole lot more in 2016! I dabbled a bit this year, was very busy with my day job, but I’d like to get back to sewing which not only relaxes me, but brings in a small side income, as well. Love your blog, it’s inspiring!
2016 appears to be a great year for creativity for me! My career has recently slowed down to a normal pace due to a job change, which leaves me more time for my sewing. I already have several projects lined up, which I wouldn’t normally have had time for. And that is so exciting!
In 2015, I finished my first quilt tops and started blogging about my craft work. In 2016, I’m looking forward to more finishes, to more ideas, and to adding some Carkai to my stash 🙂

A highlight for me for 2015 was leading a paper piecing workshop for my quilt guild. It is a method I have been doing for years, long before I knew what it was even called, and I was a tad nervous. It worked out well in the end and I was so glad I encouraged to leave my comfort zone and put on the workshop. I love your fabrics and patterns, great job!!! And THANK YOU.

2015 highlights for me were starting my blog (and all the little triumphs and excitements that brought) and also really key was changing how I buy/acquire fabrics. I’m still finessing that process but it’s been a really positive change for me.

This year has been full of surprises and growth for me but next year I’ll become a mom for the first time so I’m trying to wrap my mind around that and pack my sewing room (turning it into the nursery) into a manageable, portable, doable activity when baby gets here. The highlight of 2015 was watching your podcast for the Modern Quilt Guild and getting introduced to hand appliqué. From that moment, I fell in love with this approach to quilt making. Hand appliqué is very relaxing and meditative for me. Your line of patterns and fabrics are gorgeous and are a major part of my plans for quilting in 2016. I just need to add Carkai to my stash and I will be ready to begin a new body of quilts! I love your work and look forward to what you introduce in 2016!
I’m expecting a little boy in 2016! I decided to make him a crib sized Envelopes quilt in the oranges, blues, and greens of your lines. The quilt includes my love for paper and sewing and the fabric choices are for him. I would love to win this giveaway so I can include the new Carkai too! I will also be doing embroidery on the Liner. I decided to do the embroidery while waiting at doctor appointments. So much to look forward to.

How to choose one thing that had your name attached to it that I liked this year? Carkai, yes, but it probably has to be doe, which inspired me to start sewing and quilting for the very first time. Awesome!

A highlight of 2015 for me was getting inspired by my guild (Maritime Modern!!) and making lots of progress on a few different quilt projects.
Highlights from 2015 include learning to paper piece and learning to hand quilt. I have two big projects planned for 2016, a Castle Wall quilt for myself and a variation of Yoshiko Jinzinji’s Appliqué Swatch quilt for my husband, and I can not wait to get started! I love learning new techniques and challenging myself and I have high hopes for the upcoming year.
A highlight for me was getting to sew for Cotton & Steel for market!

I took my first big quilting class this year. It was great. I hope to make many more quilts this year. I feel like I’m just getting started.
I am looking forward to working with Carkai and finishing a quilt in memory of my architect dad with architectures incorporated with prints of his own handwriting.
Looking ahead to 2016 as always but some great moments in 2015. The biggest highlight being a trip to the Atacama Desert in Chile with 16 great friends to Celebrate a girlfriends 50th and finishing haptic labs Paris map quilt in time to gift to her.

Looking to 2016, I’m really excited about growing my quilting skills on my domestic sewing machine. (and of course making more of my Collection quilt, I’ve only done block 1 so far!)
My highlight was definitely completing my first quilt. I learned so much throughout the process and can’t wait to continue learning and growing as a quilter.
I got a new job in a patchwork shop in 2015 which has been great but is way too tempting! I’m looking forward to getting a lot more sewing done in 2016, including a Tula Pink 100 blocks quilt which I’ve been collecting fabric for. I also plan to explore more hand sewing and hand quilting, those patterns would definitely help with that!
I finished a quilt that was 26 years in the makiing, plus several others. Close to a record year for me.
In 2015 I got braver with challenging new projects, including some garments. I’m excited to keep this going in 2016 with more sewing challenges. Many coming from the Mighty Lucky Quilting Club.

I’m making some serious changes in my life in 2016. My hugely stressful business is going to be sold and kicked to touch. Over three years of having to work in such a high stress way has made me miserable. So, no more feeling sorry for myself – I’m selling the sodding business. Then I will follow my one true passion – that is sewing and quilting and anything fabric related. I have no idea what will happen, I just know that it needs to. This year I’m bringing me back!! The highlight for me in 2015 was to start sewing again but also to learn how to quilt; all thanks to IG & the inspiration it provides. I’ve challenged myself more with each project & made all of my Christmas presents. Who knows what I’ll create in 2016 – it’s a very exciting journey!

2015 for me was a watershed year when it taught me once again there is always a silver lining. A skirmish with breast cancer early in the year had me forced to take time off work for chemo. It sent me looking for anything that was comforting and colourful and I returned to quilting after nearly 20 years away and wow! The fabrics, colours, wonderful designers, Instagram – I love it all! I finished 2 hand quilted quilts in 2015 and have started a Plus Quilt with the Doe range – wonderful! I have so many quilts and fabrics dancing around in my head, 2016 is going to be awesome.

2016 is a year of hope for me, 2015 has had a lot of lows for me and my family. I hope to be able to spend time with the people I love and find time for more sewing.
I’m looking forward to expanding my quilting horizons – learning FMQ, expanding on my EPP skills, and I’ve joined a bee for the first time ever! Lots of anticipation for 2016!

The highlight for me in 2015 for sewing was attending Glamp and finally breaking into my Doe to work on the mystery quilt, I love how it’s working out! I’m eager to finish it in 2016 (maybe incorporate some Carkai!).
The creative highlight of 2015 for me was doing more sewing than I have in YEARS!! I completed some projects and started plenty more that I can hopefully finish in 2016.

I am super excited with the thought of a new year and new adventures with family, friends, fabric and my roller skates. New projects, finishing the works in progress and dreaming of what to come. Happy new year!
A highlight of my year was having some pieces of Doe as new staples in my repertoire. Seriously, that fabric. So looking forward to working with Carkai in 2016.
My wife and I just bought our first house in 2015 and will be moving in just two weeks. I’m so excited for the opportunities that come with our own home, especially one with a little bit more space – I may even have a studio just for fabric-dyeing! I’m excited/scared/nervous/proud/ready. Hopefully once things are settled this new space will inspire all sorts of new things, too. Happy new year Carolyn!

I’m excited for my youngest son’s graduation in 2016
I had ahead injury in early 2015 and really had to slow down. Quilting took a back seat to gardening over the summer months. Now in December I have finally been able to get back to sewing. It is fun to take a fresh look at my stash and start new projects. I am grateful for healing.
I fell in love with your fabrics as I completed my Park Bench BOM using your fabrics; but truthfully Carkai took my breath away. Can’t wait till I finish my quilt with it! Thank you so much for your beautiful work.

The highlight of 2015 was to put my first quilt in a local show. For the coming year, I’m going to push myself to submit quilts to juried shows – nothing ventured, nothing gained!

My highlight of 2015 was my sons wedding to his perfect mate in July. I’m new to modern quilting. Spent most of the year planning, shopping for fabric, designing, and putting together a wall hanging depicting the hometown skylines of him and his wife, and the Chicaho skyline which is home for them. Used plenty of Doe fabric for those buildings! Love your designs!
2015 was the year that I made a serious attempt at making modern quilts. I made your Aerial Grove quilt, and your Aerial quilt using Doe fabrics on each one. I also made several other modern quilts using bright fabrics, and I machine quilted them all myself on my home machine, after taking classes at my local quilt shop. Next year, I’m looking forward to attending QuiltCon in Pasadena,CA!
This was a great year for me as I jumped head first into quilting. I’m looking forward to 2016 and trying out some new things as well as putting together a quilt that I designed myself. I’m continually inspired by those in my local MQG as well as by those on IG. The quilting community, as well as the knitting community that I’m involved in, are such a wealth of support for me and are great to bounce ideas off of. I’m also looking forward to digging into the stash of your fabrics that I’ve acquired and making something beautiful from them!

I just learnt to sew a straight line! That was my mega highlight for 2015, even though I’ve knitted, crocheted & sewn all the way through, mastering a straight line with the help of a 1/4″ foot on my sewing machine has been the bees knees!

This year I learned how to hand appliqué and I am looking forward to learning foundation paper piecing in the new year!
Two big highlights this year. Watching my son successfully navigate his first year at Kindy despite some challenges and setbacks, and to have found a few friends to call his own. And for me, meeting the most amazing sewing friends in my phone, through the magic of Instagram. I have found support, inspiration and joy- I have found my “tribe”!
2016 will be the year for finding the courage to pursue my dreams, and end the procrastination! Happy New Year!
My highlight was guiding my sweet daughter-in-law through her first quilt. Modern in style pieced with loving triumphant hands.
In 2015 I’ve gained lots of new experience and learned many new skills (in both crafting and regular life). In 2016 I look forward to making my first quilt!

The biggest highlight for me this year was getting out of my comfort zone and taking a pottery class with 7 other amazingly awesome and talented ladies that I originally didn’t really know well or some at all. We have been taking the class since January and are continuing on into 2016.
This is particularly important to me since I am somewhat of a homebody and I am glad that I recognized that spending time with other strong and supportive gals is super important. Glad to say we have all become friends!????
No, it’s not sewing/quilting related per say but it was my years highlight. ????(Aside from discovering Doe and Carkai fabric).

2015 has been an awesome and productive year. It was my first year blogging, I joined a fantastic local quilt guild (and two lovely smaller quilting circles), and had a quilt win prizes in two national shows. In the coming year I am excited to teach a quilting class at a local shop (a monthly class making The Collection Quilt!) and attend QuiltCon for the first time!
2015 was a year where I did a lot of hibernating and self-analysis, which was a nice highlight for me, because I feel that honouring my intuition was the best thing I could have done for myself, and I’m a better person for it. This year, I’d like to smash out some quilts that I’ve been thinking about, and dive into the slow sewing movement!
2015 has been a great year!! My big highlight was designing a quilt block. My goal for 2016 is to create a pattern. It’s been great following you. Happy New Year.
My big highlight of the year was attending QuiltCon in February. I won’t be at QuiltCon 2016, but will be there in 2017.
2015 was the year of using hoarded fabrics and it was so freeing!! 2016 is the year of cutting into your fabrics and I couldn’t be more excited!!

My highlight of 2015 was learning how to QUILT! My quilting went from craft to art this year and it’s been amazing. I can’t believe the art that abounds in the quilting community. They have been so inspiring and so generous in their willingness to teach newbies like me. I can’t wait to see what 2016 holds for my quilting journey!
A highlight for me this year has been going back to work after being a stay at home mom for 8 years. It has been a great change of pace! While I won’t have as much time for sewing, I am looking forward to doing some more quilting, as well as working on fit in garments. Always a challenge!
My stash is full of Doe and Architextures and my head is brimming with quilty ideas. It will be a wonderful year!

I finished my first full sized quilt this year and gifted it to a friend for her 50th birthday. I attended QuiltCon in Austin and learned so much about this amazing community. I hope to make more time for sewing and creating next year….Thanks for sharing your amazing talent with all of us.
The highlight of my year involves getting stronger. Broke my tibia plateau this summer & didn’t walk for three months. I’m grateful for all the love and support given to me & my family. Also, glad to be mobile again. Getting stronger every day. Cheers to a New Year!
My 2015 highlight was moving into our first family home after 12 house moves in 5 years. Putting down much needed roots! And this next year we continue to look forward to filling our home with hand made things, fun and memories.
I’ve been ill for the last couple of years so haven’t been very productive. I’m finally.on the mend and so am looking forward to a year full of sewing and making

After nearly thirty years of quilting 2016 will be the first time I’ve made a quilt plan. I’ve joined the bee with Jenn and with encouragement my quilting buddies and group, The Burpham Babes, we’ve all made a quilt goal. Shall be interesting to see where this leads us. I have a “thing” for houses….I’m always looking for different ways of representing houses…WELL…when I saw your pattern Outhouses I was so thrilled I ordered a KIT! The fabric was perfect for those little guys and I love paper piecing. It turned out to be exactly how I wanted it to look. And I was hooked by the title of the pattern too – my family used to spend the summers at a lake with extended family. There was a single toilet in the house with a small septic field so only the “important” people (read: adults) could use indoor plumbing – the rest of us (read: kids) went up the hill to the outhouse, which was a two-seater. My mother was the only adult ever to go up there and my cousins adored her for that.
A highlight for me? Our wedding amoung old growth trees and sword ferns in Oregon. We used your Doe fabric to make hundreds of napkins for our guests and they were a hit.
This year highlights for have been trying and loving appliqué. Using your book and the sunrise quilt really were a great surprise for me. And stretching my sewing skills to more quilt like endevours have been great highlights for me. Thanks for all the inspiration Carolyn.

I believe this year will be the year my baby smiles. That’s what I”m looking forward to most! With the nastiness of 2015 behind us, I feel there is no were to go but up. Yay!
I have three quilts started so I want to get them finished this year.
I love your new fabric line and I’m excited to use them in some projects this coming year as well as trying some of the slow sewing studio patterns. I want to try to learn some new sewing techniques I am not the greatest at- hand sewing projects and clothing! I really want to make my husband a pair of pants for his birthday! Happy new year !

The highlight of 2015 was a trip to Paris with my husband and 16 y/o daughter– pure magic.
Attending QuitCon in Austin was definitely a quilting highlight for me! I found such inspiration during my time there. It’s changed the way I think about quilting and creativity and the importance of these things in my life.
I’m looking forward to working on my Collection quilt and my first king size quilt this year. And I just learned how to knit and am looking forward to learning new techniques this year! Thank you for all of your beautiful inspiration!

Wow, those bags towards the bottom!! Okay, highlights for me this year were getting a new machine (upgrading from my $29 used one, which I loved in spite of the fact that it ate all my fabric) and just slowly making small strides learning the basics. (And congrats on Carkai, it’s completely beautiful.)
Sharing a finished quilt with an artist who inspired its design. He called me to chat about it after I sent him photos. This small event demonstrated to me that art literally creates points of human connection.
Came across your fabrics/designs early this year..As a retired elementary teacher, my free time has increased. Between sewing for three sweet little granddaughters, and trying to finish quilt and sewing projects from my “first life,” I find my taste in quilts shifting to the contemporary “modern” quilts. My goal is to finish the last block of an appliqué quilt…usually delegated to summer sewing…(no time during the school year!) then I will treat myself to some of your fun, graphic prints and pattern. This is the year!!

One of my biggest highlights was starting Quilter’s Stash Box a monthly subscription box for quilters. It’s so much fun picking the products for the boxes each month. For 2016 – My quilting goal is to make a mini quilt using each of my 21 vintage sewing machines. And a quilt for my first grandson who will be making his debut in 2016!
I had a pretty good year…finished and gifted 15 quilts…made it to the Houston Quilt Festival! !..
In 2016 I am looking forward to my very first quilting cruise! I have 2 or 3 Carolyn Friedlander quilts on my to do list this year along with graduation gifts, baby quilts, a special quilt for my son in law…..I am anticipating a busy, productive year!

This year I’m going to try to work in more hand sewing and start some applique projects inspired by Savor Each Stitch. I’m also going back to my art history roots and finding more inspiration in abstract art. Wishing for a truly creative 2016.
I’m really going to focus more on quilting this year. I made so many things in 2015, but they were all small (pillows & mini quilts were the largest!), so I’m looking forward to slowing down and paying more attention to the process, rather than the quick finish. First up on my cutting table? Carkai!
My 2015, was mixed. I lost my dear old dad, but my highlight was the time I spent with him before he died. He was always interested in my quilting output, and often genuinely surprised that two colours or fabrics could look good together, when he thought initially they wouldn’t. In 2016, I am looking forward to making quilts for my 21 year old twin niece and nephew.
I had a great year! I made a point to say yes to doing things and go places.
I’m really excited to make more things for myself next year! This year has been all about quilts for friends, and that’s awesome, but I’m going to focus on smaller project for me in 2016, many inspired by you. Thank you, Carolyn!

Ever since I saw the square pin cushions appear on your blog, I knew I had to make something like that. I loved the architectural look of it – almost like an ornate window. Then I saw the Everglade pattern come out and it was love at first sight. I have a FQ of the Carkai sitting on my sewing table just waiting to become something. It’s special fabric (the first collection I ever pre-ordered!) and I would like to do something special with it. Taking my time to learn to appliqué and to make something from your Everglade pattern is on my 2016 to-do list. Thanks for a year of wonderful inspiration!

Looking back over the last year I just realized I finished four quilts, including my own interpretation of Arcs. I won’t mention how many unfinished ones I still have. But I’ve changed my view on those as well, it’s not stressful to have various projects all at various stages of completion. It all happens in its own time, I’m the channel. I don’t ever want to run out of projects! Thanks for all the inspiration you’ve given in your work. Keep it coming!

I did a bunch of new things over the last year: I made about 10 (!) different bags (and one year ago I thought I don’t like this), started sampler quilt, jumped into The Bee Hive! I hope 2016 will be as sew-ystic as 2015 was 😉 Happy New Year!
Both my children will be away for school so I’m excited to have more ‘me’ time… art galleries, movies, travel and learning new sewing skills. I’ve signed up for the Mighty Lucky Quilting Club and I’m really looking forward to that!

In 2015 I learned new skills and the highlight was attending a screenprinting workshop in Copenhagen by Karenlewistextiles. My highlight of 2015 was setting up and using my sewing room (after 10 long years) I completed 7 quilts! And may have collected a few pieces of fabric 😉
Traveling to Austin QuiltCon with my Mom, sister and Grandma was my sewing highlight for the year – and turned out to be a pretty awesome road trip. My grandma is my sewing inspiration so it was special to share the trip with her – we both flipped over the quilts of Gees Bend 🙂

In 2015 i held my first art workshop with university students. And sewing wise, i sewed a jacket which was on my challenging garments to sew list 🙂 I have started a weekly printmaking on fabric challenge, which went lovely so far. In 2016 i want to tackle more sewing projects. Art will always be my highlight. Happy new year…
My highlight of 2015 was the growing up of my daugther and her first steps.
I am so looking forward to 2016! My grandbaby will be one in January and my new grandbaby will be on here in late summer! Love fabric and quilts!
I am a young quilter who learned how to quilt from my dear grandma this last year. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do! I finished my first three quilts this year and know it’s something I will continue doing the rest of my life! I love the whole process and especially love the idea of gifting quilts to others. Highlights for me in 2015 include hiking in the Tetons, whitewater rafting on the Snake River and tackling machine paper piecing. I made one Tangelo quilt, three Stripes quilts and have fabric standing by for two more Stripes quilts. (I really like that pattern) Thanks for all the gorgeous inspiration this past year!
