What a year.
Here are some highlights as I look back.
Thank you so much for your support! Seriously. I can’t tell you how touching/wonderful/exciting it has been to read your comments, see your projects, and meet you at events. Because of that, I thought that it would be fun to wrap things up with some giveaways from the year. Here’s what we’ve got:

Awesome giveaway! I’m most proud of the fact that I tackeled my fear of curved sewing and made a pickledish mini quilt. I need more practice, but not bad for my first attempt. Blessings in 2015!!
Oh my goodness, what a fabulous giveaway! My favorite moment(s) this year would have to be taking photos of my new daughter on top of her baby quilt every week. I finished the quilt at the end of 2013, but she was born in Feb 2014. It’s been so fun to watch her take up more and more of the quilt, and it’s extra special because it was the first quilt I made!

What a lovely wrap up for the year! My favorite project was taking three large vintage basket blocks and making them into a table runner for our dining room table. I love the way the big stitch quilting brings them into the here and now.:)
My Boy Crazy baby quilt. First quilt I made that did not explode in the washing machine. The seams are simple, but regardless, I’m calling it a win.
My favorite project this year was the science fair pattern by jaybird quilts using the botanics fabric. It was the first project I made for my very supportive and deserving husband.
What a great giveaway! My favorite project moment was the couple of group projects I was a part of in 2014 – bringing together many hands to make light work for a quilt-surprise for friends in need of something new to snuggle.
My favourite moment this year has been hearing from a long lost friend and sending her a quilt made with all my favourite fabrics for her and her son in snuggle up in 🙂 waiting now for my preorder of doe 🙂
Favorite moment was seeing my husbands reaction to the quilt I finished for him….I started it 10 years ago on his first deployment and finished it during what we hope was his last!
My favorite finish turned out to be the quilt I gave my nephew for christmas. Not my favorite or best I’ve ever done but he was SO excited that it made it all worth it!
This year I loved making a quilt for my sister in law for her first year of college.
My best moment is finding out my best friend is having a baby after lots of problems for her in the last few years.She has dealt with so much-loss of her mum,an early pregnancy and also a job.My best projects have been baby quilts-one for a boy one for a girl and a neutral.Cant wait to meet the baby in January!
I’m glad I was able to make my mom and husband a quilt this year and hoping to finish one for my sister soon too! Also really looking forward to Quilt COn! Happy new Year! & thanks for a chance to win. 🙂
Best project was certainly teaming up with my 3-year old daughter to make those rice-warmer things for her grandmas. She was so proud!
I think my favorite project was the last one I finished: the log cabin wreath from Quilt Now magazine (which has some of my fav Architextures and Botanics prints!). thanks!
My fav finish of the year was my ig mini quilt. It helped boost my confidence in quilting.

My favorite quilt of 2014 was an “easy” travel quilt that I worked on whenever I sewed with friends. It logged many miles and went to several retreats. I started it with the intention of keeping it for myself as it had the first fabric collection I ever purchased in it. In the end I gave it to my Mom for Christmas and it was the best part of my holiday to give her something with so many happy memories.

I didn’t sew or quilt as much this year, but I went crazy knitting. My favorite project is always whatever I’m currently working on. I think my favorite project/moments of 2015 will be Quiltcon!

My favorite moment this year was when my FQ bundle of Doe arrived in the mail. I love it soooo much! I haven’t decided for sure what to do with it, but I am thinking about using some of it in “Autumn Flight” from the new book, “Scraps, Inc.” My favorite finished project for the year was a joint effort with my granddaughter — a quilt for her newly painted bedroom.
Congrats on a beautiful year Carolyn! A highlight was taking your Olive workshop! I am most proud of my improvements in sewing this year. I became much more comfortable with paperpiecing and was successful with sewing curves and hand quilting!
You’ve had quite the year, Carolyn! So many lovely creations! My favorite moments are finally completing my architecture license so I have more free time to sew! 🙂
My favorite project this year was a simple plus baby quilt I made for a close friend. I started sewing so that I could give quilt away and the baby ones are extra special. Congrats to you on becoming an aunt! I love the quilt you made for your niece!

What a year! Each of your projects is fresher and more inspiring than the last! My own favourite project of the year was an orange, red and pink version of the Fancy Fox quilt — so well loved by my family!

I had a big quilty year, and I also turned into a Real Knitter, and I made my very first, very fitted, perfectly-inserted zipper dress, too. I think my favorite project was a Snake Trail quilt I made using Denyse Schmidt’s pattern, and my favorite moment either signing up for QuiltCon or taking your Facing East class. (Yikes I need to choose some fabrics and make a quilt with that pattern!) you have had a great year, Carolyn. Thank you for your fabrics, patterns, and constant inspiration!
My favorite project was a quilt top using a lot of curved seems. It was a great challenge.
2014 was a rough year, but it did have some very good moments… My favorite moments have been watching as my sons grow into good and thoughtful young men, and I’m excited to learn to FMQ on my new (vintage) singer!!
My fav quilting moment of the year was making my husband his own quilt. I had to sneak working on it so it would be a surprise and it was! I am ordering some Doe today and can’t wait to make myself the Trail Tote out of it. Also really enjoy your new book. I have all of your collections once I get my hands on Doe 🙂
What a great giveaway! I’m pretty proud of learning how to free motion quilt really well this year. I also have my first pattern coming out, but I guess since it’s not out yet that doesn’t count for this year.
My favorite project of mine was a wedding quilt I made out of a quick curve ruler pattern. It turned out beautifully and really let me get comfortable with curves. 2015 will be the year of the curved quilt for me!
My best moment was going back to school!!
My favorite crafting moment this year was finishing the first quilt that I designed myself! Excited for Doe!
I made two pillows using the Park pattern. I see them everyday and love them more and more.
My favorite was definitely the AMH feather pattern twin size quilt I made my niece for her birthday. Thank you for the giveaway. Such gorgeous things to win. 🙂
My favourite moment from 2014 was refinding my love of sewing. Since then I have loved & had huge pride in every project I’ve done, from simple cushion covers to an EPP lap quilt. Thank you for this opportunity. Happy New Year!
Your 2014 are so inspiring!
My favorite project was completing my first garment project in years – a Tiny Pocket Tank that actually fits and that I will actually wear. The other most memorable project of 2014 was finally finishing a baby quilt that I started for my niece when she was born 1.5 years ago. She’s more of a toddler than a baby now, but at least the quilt is finished.
My favorite moment of 2014 was the birth of my daughter. But quilting and sewing should be also named among 2014 revelations, since previously I considered myself as non-needle person. Nevertheless now I’m enjoying every moment with my sewing machine and my first quilt-project was a gingam quilt for my daughter.
This year was my most productive ever. It’s so hard to chose a favorite project. If I had to choose I’d pick a navajo inspired baby quilt I made for my daughter. It still needs binding but it’s handquilted and I absolutely love it. I have been coveting Savor Each Stitch. I would love a copy of that book.
My favorite project was the quilt I made and entered for QuiltCon! It was so liberating to create something I loved and see it come together so organically. It may not win any prizes, but it is my favorite thing I’ve made all year so I already couldn’t be more happy with it!
A had a few but I made several staple dresses this year which was a nice venture into garment sewing for me as I didn’t even touch my seamripper!
Hello! This is such a nice give-away! My favorite project for this past year was a set of three pieced/quilted cabinet panels that I made to go in my dad’s clockmaking workshop this year. Thank you for this opportunity 🙂
I think my favorite project this year was my first quilt (for a friend who’s having a baby), or maybe my Odette Dress. I have some fabric ready for a Shirts quilt in 2015!
My absolute favorite project I made this year was a geranium dress for my daughter made out of a dark gray chambray and printed with white trees on the bottom. I love making pillows and quilts, but there’s something even more special about seeing something I’ve made on someone I love!!!
My favourite project is a table runner I made with using tiny EPP hexagons. My fave project of yours is that sofa you reupholstered for quilt market, I want to make one like that too one day!
A high point was getting two quilts accepted into QuiltCon. My favorite project was a crib size version of your Focal pattern.

What an amazing giveaway, thank you Carolyn. My favourite from 2014 was finding two very adorable Featherweight sewing machines at really good prices – a 221 & a 222. Lucky indeed. My love of sewing has grown more this year, sewing for 40 odd years and I can’t imagine life without sewing – it’s saved my sanity in what has been a very difficult year.
My favorite project this year has been the EPP quilt I’ve been steadily working on. I try to put in at least a few stitches every day and I’m amazed at the progress! It’s not done yet, but it’s coming along at a much faster rate than my other WIPs 🙂
My favorite sewing moment of 2014 was creating two quilts with a friend (artist) going through Cancer treatments. We picked two related patterns that we liked, she drew and designed the fabric, we had it printed, and then I sewed the quilts. We each have one quilt now, and she is healthy again!

This has to be the best giveaway of the year! My best project this year had to be doing the tula pink 100 blocks, I had never done anything like that before! Best moment was visiting my sister and fabric shopping and findint the “local” quilt pattern, now if I could only find some architexture fabrics!!! My goal for 2015 is to tackle that quilt…I love the pattern.

My favourite project this year was actually your social tote. I found it a challenge but once I got my head around it I went on and made a second one. Both were given away as Christmas presents- my Mum and best friend are thrilled with them. I see another one for myself happening in the near future
My favorite project this year was a baby quilt for my first baby boy, Henry. I love hand quilting and worked on it here and there between sewing bibs, quilting a diaper bag and endless other projects. Sewing definitely played a large part in fulfilling my nesting instincts before baby!
This year I learned paper piecing and have started to find my own style in sewing!

What a beautiful year! I had a lot of wonderful personal wake-up calls this year, and am really excited about the path ahead. One of my favorite inspirational days this year was the Bok Tower meet up, because I met such great quilty friends and was introduced to the amazing world of Instagram! (I know, I know, I was in the dark ages before then!). Cheers to 2015!
My favorite project of this year was breaking out of my “square quilt” comfort zone and into a herringbone pattern for a baby quilt. It helped build my confidence and now I’m trying out English paper piecing 🙂 happy new year!
My favorite event of 2014 was reviving my interest in quilting and discovering your incredible fabric collections.
My favorite sewing project this year was making potholders as my go to gift this year! Everyone was so excited to have nice looking fabric for their potholders rather than the kitchy department store potholders.

All the best for 2015 CF! My favorite sewing memory if the year was making a 50″ Dresden plate quilt for my sister. I gave her the quilt for Christmas. She loved it so much she cried. Giving the items I’ve made to people I love is one of the best part of making handmade for me.
I think that my favourite projects this year came after I discovered how much I could do with a walking foot when I just slowed down and took my time. As a result I started quilting local neighbourhood maps and I just love the whole process.
I would love to win any of these generous giveaway items. I already have a few, but would gladly gift extras to share the love. I’ve started a couple versions of your Catenary quilt this past week (a baby quilt and a mini at 50%) and was just thinking that a bit of Kona Pickle would be perfect to round out the colours I’ve already prepped.

My own favorite project is the quilt I made for my son just before he was born. It’s a simple patchwork quilt with all my favorite fabrics. I love how the color pallet turned out and your botanics fabrics really helped me decide on that and arrange the fabrics. I wish I didn’t make it so small because now he’s too big for it, maybe it will become a pillow cover one day…

This was a big year for me as it was the year I caught the quilting bug. From my first quilt through my 10th finish, it was such a fun year and I’m so thrilled I found such a rewarding and inspiring hobby. Despite all of my improvements in technique, colour picking, design, etc., my first quilt I made (for my son’s 2nd birthday) is still my favourite because it was my beginning, and made with so much love (and so many errors ;)). And Doe is by far my favourite fabric collection so far. I’m so glad I didn’t miss it!
My favorite moments in 2014… the birth of my 2nd grandson… the birth of my best friend’s 1st grandson… and making quilts for both babies! Can’t wait to see what you come up with for 2015!

Most if my favorite moments this year have been more family focused- buying our first house, getting pregnant with our second baby. But my favorite sewing moments this year were finishing my Christmas sampler quilt from two years ago and making my first pair of pants!
My favorite project this year was when I made this cute little drawstring purse for my niece for Christmas!
One of my favorite moments was in Chicago this summer. My granddaughter helped me finish her Wonky Houses Advent Calendar Wall Hanging. Also receiving a quilt from my sister this Christmas.

Congratulations on a fantastic year and for a wonderful giveaway! I cannot wait to see what you release in 2015 (I am hoping for some crosshatch in the original Architextures palette – especially the raspberry color)! My favorite moments of 2014 is the constant growing I did as a sewer as a result of the Modern Instabee that I hesitantly jumped into in January. Sewing for others has expanded my confidence with color and technique.
I think this year my favorite moment was in August. I’d signed up for a few BOMs as a way to push myself and as I assembled one of my blocks I realized that and difficult as the block was, I GOT IT. I was no longer afraid of the patterns and that I wasn’t a “beginner quilter”. That after all these teas I actually have developed my skills enough to be very confident even with challenging blocks. I had just hadn’t changed my self-perception. That was a huge moment and a complete game changer.
You’ve certainly had a wonderful year, thanks for the giveaway. My favourite project this year has been working on quilts for my girls, they’re still not finished, but I’m enjoying every minute of the hand quilting on them. I have my eye on Doe for my next project… as soon as these two are finished!

I wasn’t able to sew as much as I would have liked this year, but I managed to make my kids a flannel quilt, with matching pijama’s, that was my favorite project of 2014…and now I’m working on a quilt for my mom and dad, they will be maried for 40 years, plus they’ll both turn 65 in 2015…using your Architextures and Botanics fabrics, that’s gonna be my favorite project of 2015 for sure!! A few of my favorite moments this year: officially launching my own craft brand, setting up my first studio room in our new home, joining my local Modern Quilt Guild, and making my first Etsy sale. My favorite project (still ongoing) is a trio of red and white quilts exploring log cabin designs from traditional to modern.

I walked into my LQS Gather Here in Cambridge MA in February 2014 and saw a display of Botanics and took a picture and sent it to my now husband bc I had found our wedding color scheme. I made 200 yards of bunting from a selection from Botanics and a few Lizzy House prints and it totally transformed the tent we where had our wedding reception. My project for 2015 is to deconstruct the bunting and create a wedding quilt.
Thanks for a chance! My favorite finish was a quilt I made for my dad & mom. Even though it did not read as my type of fabric or pattern it was fun from the first cut to the last stitch.
2014 is the year my quilting really started to grow! I have made a few quilts for friends and it’s so exciting learning new techniques and letting my skills develop! Can’t wait to see what 2025 brings.
My favorite moment was making a quilt with Botanics for my mother-in-law for Christmas. She flew here to Colorado, from West Palm Beach, Florida and when she opened her package she exclaimed, ‘Oooh, perfect! Reminds me of the Florida seas and sunsets!’ Success!
A favorite moment this year was taking your class in Winston Salem in August. What treat to meet you! Also – It was my first class ever, something new for me in 2014.
Beautiful ! I just received my Charm square pack of Doe the other day – very exciting to choose which ones to order more of (after I’ve made a mini quilt with the charm squares of course!) My favourite sewing moment of 2014 was finishing my first ever blouse that actually FITTED properly across the chest. A Colette Patterns Violet in a Liberty print.
I enjoyed reading your book on the plane ride home from May ’14 market. I was reminded often of many ideas I had years ago, but thought they wouldn’t fit into the “quilting world”. Your book was proof that they do. I’ll be spending 2015 chasing those old ideas. I love your style and aesthetic, and my husband does too, so I would love to make him a quilt that I know he would truly appreciate. kg
Going to Sew Down in Nashville was definitely a favorite moment & my favorite project was finally finishing up a free pieced wall hanging with a photo printed via Spoonflower that inspired the color scheme (it had been started in 2013 and was supposed to be a Xmas present last year, but finally was gifted this Xmas!)
My most favourite moment was when I head that there is a reprint of Architextures 🙂

Happy New Year to you Carolyn! This giveaway is fabulous! My fingers are crossed! I made a lot this year in which every project was a major learning experience. My favorite project this year was a scrappy strips throw quilt which I made for my couch. It’s the first quilt I completed that I was pleased with my sewing skills and measurements. It is made from cotton and linen fabrics mostly found at a fabric tag sale here in Connecticut with varying shades and tones of red, blue, gray, mustard and neutrals. I stepped out of my comfort zone of quilting straight lines and actually made beautiful crazy waves. It’s beautiful! All the best to you! Can’t wait to see what is in store for 2015!

I loved reading and trying projects from Savor Each Stitch, Patch work CiTY and Lucky Spool’s Guide to Modern Quilting.
My favorite project this year was a fold over clutch. It was the first time I put in a zipper. i get lots of compliments on it and love carrying it when I go out on the town. In 2015 I plan to tackle my fear of sewing curves. Thanks for sharing so much beautiful inspiration.
I think the highlight of the year was having my first stall at a local Christmas market selling my sewn goods – it was the first time I have sold something I made and the response was so positive. And I even got a couple if commissions out it! Well that and finishing my phd thesis…!
My favorite projects were my daughter’s graduation quilt (graduating from med school!) and the AMH feather quilt I made her boyfriend.
I have had so many favorite projects this year many of which were milestone firsts so its hard to choose one. I upped my garment making skills, made my first quilt, and dabled in upholstery! Here’s to many new projects in 2015!
Oh my, very lovely giveaway prizes! I made a lot of nice things this year, but the quilt I just finished for my son’s girlfriend (his Xmas gift to her) probably topped the list. A purple (my least fave colour), gray, & white quilt in rectangles; designed by Judy Laquidara of Patchwork Times. It turned out beautifully!

Happy New Year! I started sewing in 2014. My favourite project was a crossover backed smock dress I made my daughter. It was the first pattern I followed and it gave me so much confidence to keep going and try new things. It was also an introduction to this amazing supportive sewing community. So many exciting sewing plans for 2015!

My most favourite moments from 2014 were the reactions from my little one when I gave her something I sewed for her. It’s the best feeling ever!!
Congratulations on a great year! My greatest project from 2014 was making my first modern hexies mini quilt. It helped me decide that I need to sew with my own style sometimes even if the vast majority of projects are gifts. I’ve already begun making hexies for a version for myself using Botanics! I’m also excited that I’ve stuck consistently with my blog and have gained a good following on my blog & IG. Getting into the online quilting community has been wonderful!!

My favorite moment was meeting my quilting pen pal Jennifer this summer when I visited Fort Collins. We finally got to meet in person for the first time. She was just as wonderful and I imagined she would be. Thanks for the giveaway.
My moment was the arrival of my son in October! And my favorite item for him was an incredible house quilt my mother in law made for him!
Happy New Year! A good quilting moment from the year happens to be my current one, in which I am anguishing over my sister’s third baby quilt. The other two were lovely and fun, but they were also awhile ago, and I’ve grown a lot as a designer since then, so now I want to make a quilt that “goes with” the first two, but isn’t completely disconnected from the quilter I am now. Overthinking it? YES. Is it worth it? I think so.
Congrats on a great year! I made my 3-yr-old niece a QAYG bag that was the perfect size, got it to her on time, and she absolutely loved it and was obviously thrilled.
Congrats on a wonderful year! My fave quilt his year was one I went out of my safe zone and worked with colors and patterns I hadn’t tried before for a mini quilt swap, it was loved and also chosen for a magazine article. I upgraded my machine in May and since then I’ve been determined to complete ALL the wips my old machine couldn’t handle. Love your fabric and designs
My favorite moment of the year was assembling an orphan block quilt from bits and pieces of thirty years of quilting–some blocks that never got assembled into a quilt, some blocks I just made to see how it was done, some surplus blocks from projects, some blocks that weren’t quite up to snuff so I had made replacements but kept the reject. So many good things to choose from, but I’d have to say the weekend at Camp Stitchalot was among the top! Two great workshops, lots of new friends, sewing with old friends, and laughter. A great combination!

My favorite project in 2014 was a little crib quilt and hand-embroidered pillow for my friend’s newly adopted son. It’s so sweet to get to share a friend’s joy through a handcrafted keepsake.
My favorite quilt related moment of 2014 might have been receiving the email saying my “Typewriter No. 5” quilt has been accepted into QuiltCon 2015. 🙂
I’m so proud that I made my family all of their Christmas gifts this year, hope I can do the same for next year.

Hi. My very favourite project was my first large quilt. I made it with botanics and learnt a couple of new skills including needle turn applique. I love a project that teaches me new things and needle turn applique is right up there with meditation for chilling out. Have a great 2015.
Happy New Year. My fav moment this year was curating a quilt show and having it exceed everyone’s expectations.
Mine was a ballerina doll i stitched up for my niece. I freehand drew the pattern and it came out lovely! Of course she needed some knit legwarmers too.
I saw a cool spool quilt and sat down and figured out the pattern. This was so hard for me and still is. It turned out and I just love it. It’s hanging on my wall. I have to be the proudest of that!
My favorite quilt this year was for my father. It took me a while to finish but it was hand quilted and I fell in love with it. I’m super happy that I tackled my fear of hand quilting. I’m ready for the new year and to finish my 2014 projects!! Awesome giveaway. Thanks

my favorite part of 2014 was adopting a kitten and finally finishing a large picnic quilt that had been long forgotten in my closet.
My favorite moment was between Thanksgiving and Christmas, when I switched from a long year of making large, labor-intensive quilts to a flurry of small, fun pillows for Christmas gifts. I got to experiment and play with colors and designs. A Christmas present to me!
My favorite moment–just a few days ago–was realizing that my interests have changed and I made the decision to destash older, tired, and perfectly perfect fabrics that were no longer my style or preference. I gave them all to a friend, with the stipulation she could keep what she wanted and distribute the rest to her guild or charity. My only request was that she did not sell any of it. It was a big, big stash.
I was starting to feel oppressed by the amount of fabric and feeling really overwhelmed. Now I can buy some new fabric to complement what I kept.
Your fabric–of which I have a lot–and a lot of Konas–have me looking forward to a new year of making.

My favorite project was a mini quilt made of equilateral triangles in light aqua, yellow, pink, and off-white. It was quick and turned out so pretty. A just-for-fun project… Love those.

I am most proud of my quilting and the progress I’ve made with selecting color. I basically, just let go. I throw all my pieces into a bag and then just randomly select. It’s amazing what can be accomplished when you just let go.

For Christmas in 2013, I received a FQ bundle of Botanics… it took me most of the year to decide what to do with it, but when I figured it out WOW. I finally finished a wedding quilt for my daughter and her husband. They’ve been married 3 years.
So many great moments this year! Best quilting year of my life! I got to see several Gees Bend quilts in person, which was an amazing highlight, and met lots of wonderful quilty people from all over the country.

My favorite project of 2014 began a few weeks ago. I’m making a grandmothers flower garden quilt. It’s my first attempt at english paper piecing and I’m loving it!

My favourites are always the quilts. They are a big project and I always love that feeling of accomplishment. Thank you for your 108″ widescreens – I must have bought about 15 yds of that stuff this year – definitely made my life easier (and prettier)!
One of my lasting moments was receiving a coin purse made from Botanics in the Schnitzel and Boo mini quilt swap. The mini quilt is gorgeous but the coin purse is used constantly and makes me smile each time I see it. I’m looking forward to your 2015 creations.
My favorite project was the first quilt I made. Flew to North Carolina to visit one of my best friends and she helped me plan and complete my first quilt in one weekend. Since then I’ve been hooked!
My favorite moments of watching your creations and fabric would be any of those relating to the houses that you make. I just love them! (Oh, and all the text fabrics, too)

My personal favorite from 2014 was a king size medallion quilt I made for a friend…and also a large lap quilt made from voile with a silk batting and minky back that I made for my sister who is battling stage IV cancer – I wanted her to have the softest quilt ever…and I think I succeeded!!!

My favourite quilting moment of 2014 was delivering the hope quilt I coordinated with a group of quilting friends for a dear friend battling cancer. While I hate the fact that she has to deal with the cancer and treatments required to vanquish it, my heart felt happy that we had given her the gift of our hopes for her recovery in a tangible form. Her joy as she discovered each individually made block was a true gift to my heart. A win win if ever there was one!

I’m just entering the world of quilting and am already loving it! My best moment of 2014 was welcoming my new baby boy into our family in October. After being in the NICU for a week, it was such a relief to finally bring him home.
My happiest accomplishment this year was finishing a quilt for my family based on a series of bedtime stories I tell my kids about a place called Octoberland.

2014 is the year I got serious about quilting! I made a quilt for my parent’s anniversary last year and got hooked. For 2014 I planned out a sort of learning course for myself for piecing. 4 quilts in various stages of completion. 2015 is the year I take on the quilting of them. I’m doing hand quilting, FMQ, continuous line, and long arming.
Going to Missouri Star Quilt Co twice!! I see that you went too. It’s such a magical place. I plan to return this year — thankful that I live only a 4 1/2 hour drive away.

my favorite 2014 project was a dresden fan quilt. finishing a quilt that a mother started for her daughter over 30 years was so much fun and rewarding. and I really appreciate your advice and input!
My favorite project this year was a simple little scarf I crocheted for my niece. She is a toddler and considers *anything* longer than a few inches a potential scarf. While visiting in October, I whipped up a little scarf, so she would have a real scarf, and in hopes that she would stop using her mom’s yoga band as a scarf!
My favorite tackled technique was sewing with curves by doing a yet to be quilted but pieced single girl quilt
Gosh, darn, Carolyn Friedlander, you have grown by leaps and bounds as an artist this 2014!! Was fun watching alll the original, fun designs you come up with! A for me, …well the most outstanding memory of the year has to be tackling a paper pieced project for the first time! I remember the first time I saw the Doe collection prints online. It literally took my breath away because of their simple beauty! The fabrics are really pulling me to come up with a very special quilt design before I buy them so that I know how much to buy!
I really came into my own this year and am feeling much more comfortable with my piecing skills. My favorite project was an appliquéd rainbow hexagon quilt for a friend’s baby.

I think my best accomplishment of the year is getting through it! It’s been a long hard year, but finishing projects – like my Park Bench quilt and my first EPP quilt – has given me a sense of control I needed. I am looking forward to trying some new things in the coming year!

My favorite finish this year was a paper pieced mini made in a friendship swap seven of us did. It was one of those projects that I don’t know that I would have changed a thing.
My favorite moment of 2014 was finishing my clam quilt and the realization that came with it that I could make anything I wanted to make, the “hard” projects were within reach if I wanted them! One of my favorite projects was a quilt I made for a wedding gift that I ended up keeping because when it came out of the wash, it had a grease spot that I haven’t been able to get out.
What a great giveaway! My favorite project this past year was making and giving my younger sister a quilt when she graduated with her Master’s. And then my favorite “quilting experience” was being able to attend my first quilting retreat. Spending a weekend with a wonderful group of women and being able to sew to my heart’s content was awesome 🙂
My favorite project was the quilt that I made for my 5 year old granddaughter.
My favorite quilt this year was a circle quilt- the first time I’ve ever tried appliqué. I made a lot of other quilts this year, but when I bought your book it really inspired me to do less structured quilting and to try to be more adventurous. I have two quilt tops that I’ve been saving because I wasn’t feeling inspired about how they should be quilted. Big stitch quilting spoke to me and that’s what really feels right for my next two projects. Thank you for the inspiration, I love your work!

Fun to peruse those….my favorite project for this year was a simple boxy pouch in Portland Trailblazer basketball fabric for my hubby, like a toiletries bag. He was so surprised at Christmas and wouldn’t believe me that I had made it. His father had given him a vinyl one from decades ago and I have had to mend it several times from wear and tear but I didn’t want him to throw it out so I just made him one. Fun memory. Many firsts for me, knitting, crocheting, also was excited about screen printing many christmas gifts, but I was so proud when I made myself a piece of clothing that I was so pleased and proud of that i wear it to work!!

My best moment was my birthday celebrated with my daughter who flew in from Montana, and my sister who came from Indiana, I turned 50 so they thought that was a biggie! Thanks for the great giveaway.
My best moment was graduating college with a bachelor degree in business administration and a minor in accounting. Then in August we relocated for a shorter commute and my new apartment has a sewing room.
It’s hard to pick just one, but my favorite finish was Zen Chic’s Cross It in khaki and coral for a wedding present. I also enjoyed 4 block of the month quilts; 1 top finished and all the other blocks finished.
I think my best sewing moment this year was finishing a Christmas tree wallhanging for my stepmom. It’s so satisfying to go from a paper design to seeing the finished product being used and cherished! All the best for the new new year! Cannot wait to see what you have up your sleeve!
My best moment was finishing a loon quilt I made for my baby nephew based on a drawing my brother made. I wasn’t sure I could pull it off, but I did!

My favorite moment for 2014 may be finding the perfect fabric for the background for your Palmettos pattern. My friend is custom quilting it for me and I can’t wait to see it! I just received Savor Each Stitch as a Christmas present, and I’m looking forward to savoring each page. Much peace and joy to us all in 2015!

Anyway, my favorite project this year was the cute little charm pack I threw together into a tree skirt the week before Christmas. My favorite moment though, was a very simple sewing project. I got some stretchy headband ribbon and my four-year-old granddaughter and I sewed headbands for all her cousins for Christmas. She sat on my lap and guided the seams through the machine, and then wrapped her gifts. She was very proud of them. Thanks for the great giveaway!

What lovely items for the giveaway! My 2014 fav is the baby quilt that I made for my niece, which involved 12 family members who each embroidered a block that I put into a quilt. It was really fun to give it to her at her baptism with all the family there who helped make it. And to finish off the year I got a doe fq bundle that I can’t wait o use!

My favorite project of 2014 was a large tote bag I made for a tote swap. I quitted the fabric myself and added the recipient’s initials to the front. It turned out so great and she really loved it!
My favorite creation was my first ever quilt. I started sewing a year ago and began with bags, then when I decided I should try a quilt I dived in and made a queen sized one! It came out lovely and I hope to do many more in the upcoming years. I’m just drooling over that Doe collection–I’ve been imagining what I’m going to use it for when i finally get it! Cheers!

My favourite project this year was a quilt-a-long I participated in that started last January and finished in September. I didn’t keep up all the time but I finished the quilt top.
This year was good until Nov when Our SIL’s cancer came back so 2015 will be the year of many prayers.

I finished a baby mat/change pad for my brand new son. It was the first real improv thing I’ve made, wonky pluses pulled together with a border of crosshatch from architectures. Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite project this year has been the jaybird Park Bench block of the month at Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill, NC.
One of the best things about sewing are the women that it brings together.
My favorite quilting moment of 2014 was gifting my husband with a surprise walking dead quilt for his birthday. I’d managed to keep it entirely secret!

Best 2014 time was the Sew Down in Nashville where I meet you and many wonderful quilters from all over the country. It was so much fun and you are such a good teacher! I enjoy your work so much, keep it coming in 2015!
I bought a serger and my favorite make was the Finlayson sweater I sewed for my teen son! I not only gained more garment sewing skills but my son actually wears it — often!

This year was the year that I started sewing and began working on my first quilt. I still have a lot to learn, but I’ve learned a lot of new skills and have discovered a lot of wonderful fabrics, patterns, and designers that I can’t wait to work with this coming year. I’m so happy that I’ve found your work and all the wonderful fabrics and patterns that you’ve designed. Can’t wait to get my hands on Doe and start working with that!

Favorite project for 2014 was for a friend who lost almost everything to a fire. Also had other friends fill out blank blocks to show their love.
Carolyn, my favorite bit for this year was finishing a quilt project that i started last year featuring some of you awesome architextures fabric that I was able to show you when you spoke at the Lakeland quilt guild! I finished it yesterday, so while there are other awesome parts of the year, this is fresh in my mind.
Hi Carolyn, I loved attending Sewtopia this fall. This ties in with one of your photo highlights- the goody Doe mini charm pack we received from you. Plus I was able to purchase more Doe precuts and see your Outhouse quilt on our Shop Hop. It was great!
I made some great quilts and ornaments this year but I think my best was a Butterfly Blooms. I want to make another one. I love that pattern.
My favorite project this year was making a quilt for a young girl that she help out with. She picked the pattern and fabrics and we would get together periodically during the process. She even made one of the blocks on her own that is signed on the finished quilt!
It’s hard to pick a favorite of 2014. One of my favorite finishes was your pattern “Olive”. I so enjoyed the workshop and I love how it finished. I have it hanging in my sewing room. That’s saying something, because it seems I rarely seem to have anything that I make. It seems I give them all away. I decided this one was a keeper. I love the simplicity and clean lines. Here’s to an even more successful 2015!
Wow…it is hard to decide. I think it was helping my daughter work on a queen size quilt for a gift. It was really special to me becuase she has never shown any interest in quilting and we had a lot of fun together doing this! I hope it is a start of an addiction for her!
My favourite project for the year was a travel journal/ pen pouch that I made for a young friend who is studying architecture and was taking her first trip from Australia to Europe – on her own – to visit significant buildings: those that she had ‘seen’ only via her text books. I used Architextures fabric that I managed to track down via some Etsy sellers. My partner (an artist) liked it so much that I was prevailed upon to make a second enlarged version that now accommodates his sketchbook, drawing instruments and tablet. As a relatively new sewer, I was tense throughout both makes, keen to ensure that the finishes were “perfect”. It was such a pleasure to have two successful – and appreciated – outcomes … the joys of making!
My favourite part of 2014 was leaning to foundation paper piece. Thanks for a fab giveaway 🙂
My favorite moment was first time I saw my newborn granddaughter wrapped in the quilt I made for her.
What creative influence you have shared with us. A major highlight was having you teach in our shop, Oklahoma Quiltworks. A project highlight was doing Jen Kingwell’s Gypsy Wife as a BOM for the shop. Happy 2015 to all.

Favorite project this year is working on a retirement quilt for my husband (a surprise for March 2015) and teaching a paper-piecing program for my modern quilt group, using YOU as a great point of reference!

2014 was the year I finished my The Local quilt (with Botanics and Doe added in) and had the chance to meet you in person. I’m pretty excited about both. Thanks for giving my creativity a really fun place to play.

My fVorite project was learning to paper piece and making a Forest Abstractions quilt. My favorite moment was getting a job at a snazzy quilt shop (and being able to meet you because of it!)
I met an awesome group of women at a sewing retreat in Charlotte, NC and now we’ve become a close group of friends. We’ve done two swaps this year and all met for a class with you in Greensboro and a sewing weekend at the beach. Individual projects are great but I think that’s the highlight of my crafty year!!

2014 was a very busy year for me! My favorite project was whichever one I was working on at the time, but the most special favorite was the quilt I made for my daughter. She loves it and that is the best reward! I hope I can win some of your lovely loot!

Happy New Year. This year, I worked on my machine quilting with my home machine. I concentrated on doing small pieces with birds and leaves.
After months of being in a sewing slump, I ordered Savor Each Stitch and I’m so glad I did. I was so inspired by the unique approach to quilting I immediately got to work on my own adaptation of Aerial Grove for a friend of mine. I even conquered my aversion to hand sewing. Definitely my favorite project this year. Thank you so much for the inspiration and for helping me turn the page on my own journey.
My favorite “moment” this year was attending the Nashville SewvDown with my daughter and learning lots of new quilting techniques. We also had the opportunity to meet awesome instructors:). Thanks for the great giveaway!

In 2014 my daughter and I made a quilt together, she sewed her parts in Portland, I sewed mine in Springfield. We met up, put them together and they actually fit, matched and looked beautiful! We were so proud of ourselves.
I have not sewn anything for many years but recently started sewing again. I finished many projects but I think my favorites are the gifts I made for my friends and family. Happy New Year!

2014 saw my very first quilt — okay, it was only a mini, but so much fun and a great moment for me as it hooked me on quilting. Now I’m finishing up the Park Bench BOM with Botanics, and thinking about what I want to sew with Doe. Thank you for the pleasure your work has brought me, and happy 2015.

I’m proud of the fact that I made my very first quilt in 2014. I think I also learnt a lot about acceptance – the type that you need to have to build new skills and deal with some of the things in life that just need it.

One moment that sticks out for me is submitting a quilt for display in a local quilt festival. It was the first time I’ve had my work on display like that, and I was so excited to see it hanging up with all the other great modern quilts by local quilters that I know!

My favorite thing about 2014 is when I got my Sweet Sixteen. It has been so great quilting my own quilts and for others as well.
My favorite sewing project to date is a large courthouse step quilt.

Anytime I work on my quilting is my favorite time of the day. But this year had the sweetness of finishing a quilt I started over 30 years ago. It is beautiful and wonderful to finish something you have started! Lots of hugs and laughs for us all in 2015!

My best 2014 moment was finishing a quilt I made quite some time ago (as in “years”) and presenting it to my guild’s charity drive. I like to imagine the person receiving it and enjoying it.
My favorite moment was the birth of my twin boys. My favorite quilt projects are the quilts that I made for them. Doe is a beautiful fabric line.
What a fabulous end-of-year giveaway, Carolyn! My favourite moment of 2014 was definitely walking into the surprise birthday party I had planned for my boyfriend in July. I started planning two months in advance, and it was so stressful to keep it a secret for so long. The party went off super well and he never suspected for a moment!
As for my favourite make, I’ve been swapping and collecting Liberty of London charms with friends for a few years. I finally decided to cut into them this year after deciding that a Single Girl quilt would be the right pattern. It was one of those projects where, although it looks improvised, I actually planned every single print placement. It was pretty intense at the time, but now that it’s bound and finished (https://www.flickr.com/photos/36374379@N04/16133466296/), I can just enjoy it for what it is — a “simple” quilt;)

Thanks for this generous giveaway! My favourite project was a modern wedding quilt made for a high school friend. The happy couple says they use it every time they watch a movie or TV.
I just spent two nights in a cabin in the snowy woods. Waking at night to stoke the fire and cooking pancakes on a wood stove were highlights. Remembering that going back to the basics can be luxurious. Also started and finished two quilts this year that I was very happy with.
My favourite moment in 2014 was when I returned to work after undergoing treatment for severe depression. My favourite quilting moment was when I was picked up the quilt I was making for my son and continued to pice it be hand. Happy New Year Carolyn. Thank you for generous giveaway.

This year my favorite accomplishment was completing a double sided queen size quilt using only Botanics. I quilted it myself and I absolutely love it! I am looking forward to starting the year off with tons of Doe!
Favorite moment was probably deciding the design of my baby girls quilt…I had been hemming and hawing for SO long, not being able to settle on color placement. I kept making steps in the right direction, until one day it just hit me and was perfect and I’m so excited I waited to be happy with it, rather than just sewing up the first random design I thought of. Phew, can you tell I’m new to quilting? 🙂
My favorite creation of 2014 was the mini quilt I made based on the song “Here Comes the Sun”. It felt daring and I loved it. I discovered that I loved quilting when each aspect is creative and challenging.
This year I gifted some dear friends a wedding quilt. It was such a wonderful feeling. I really pushed myself to do my best technically and I took the time to finish it how I wanted (hand bound and with a beautiful label), even though it meant I sent it after the wedding. I am going to put a lot of ufos on my to do list this year and hope for more good finish feelings in 2015!
I had a busy year with little time for the Creation Station, so my number one New Year’s resolution is to “simplify and accomplish” in 2015, making more time for quilting and completing UFO’s! But I did make my husband a lap quilt (after noting he kept borrowing mine!) and hand quilted it with embroidery designs and free stitching. For the backing, I had saved for literally decades a quilt his sister began when in her teens, using flannel fabric from all the Christmas jammies their grandmother made for them each year as children. I completed it in secret while spending time with my own parents, and my mom, who is having memory issues, really connected with the quilt and that gave us a nice connection too. Quilts can comfort in so many ways.
My favorite moment of 2014 was discovering your work. It got me thinking again during a time lacking any creativity at all. I’m looking forward to my first project inspired by your work. Thank you!
Your event at Happy Apple in Palm Harbor was so much fun! I bought fabric and patterns for the Palmetto and sewing basket, and just recently picked up your book. From one FL farm girl to another, congrats on you hard earned success. Florida Quilters rule!
My favorite “project” of 2014 was learning more about appliqué! I started with a workshop on needle turn with Carolyn in NC, then tackled a Queen Sized Bullseye quilt using Botanics! For Christmas I got two new appliqué technique book and plan to continue learning!

I finished up a couple quilts that landed on my project table at my kiddos request, its always fun to make stuff they are excited about!
