Who doesn’t love a gift guide? There’s something enticing about a curated list of goodies and the possibility of seeing something you hadn’t thought of yet. My 2025 Gift Guide for people who like to make and sew includes many of my favorites.
Gifts That you Can Make and Sew
Here are some of my current favorites, but since I believe this category to be endless, I’ve created a Pinterest board with even more ideas.
Anything Noodlehead. Her projects are the best. I’ve made, gifted and used so many of her projects multiple multiple times. Highlights right now include Plover Pouch (below), Quarry Tote, and the (free) Basket and Tray pattern.

Knot and Thread. I’ve made (and gifted) several All The Things Totes (below). They are great. The newest bag looks good too, and I’m thinking about making this one for my nieces.

Fabric Napkins (free pattern from me)

Quilted Coasters (free pattern from me)

Make a Mini Quilt – It’s a good palette cleanser for you, and a fun wall adornment for them. Win, win. Lott, Mini Eads, Lusk and Grove are great options.

Jeni Baker drawstring bags. (They make good reusable gift wrap too!)

Sewn Hats – yes, that’s a thing, and a very fun thing at that. Here are ideas for kids, for adults (bucket style, wide brim and cap). OR, you can make it easy and adorn a store-bought hat with embroidery, iron-on patch or appliqué.

Poufs – a kid classic. (Here’s the filling* I used for mine.)

Nesting Boxes – I made these years and years ago, and I still use them! (Anything else Aneela Hoey is good too.)

Need a fairly quick quilt to bust out? Give Ray a try. It’s a free pattern on my site, and it sews up quite efficiently.

Gifts for People Who Make and Sew
Notions are always a great idea. I don’t think you can ever have enough wonder clips, sewing pins, and jumbo needle packs*.

Bias Tape – either gift a tape maker*, OR make some tape to gift to those friends who don’t like making it. Learn how in my video tutorial, and you can also reference this cheat sheet for the right sizes. Looking for something cute to put it on? Winding it around one of these is a beautiful upgrade.
I firmly believe that a maker can never have too many woven labels. KATM, Sarah Hearts and Matchy Matchy Sewing Club are some of my favorites.

This Woven Label Storage Plan comes to you from my friend Elisabeth. Just add these* to a three-ring binder and you’re all set. It’s genius and a great gift for someone who you know could use it.

Can a maker ever have too many pincushions? There’s just about every size and shape to choose from in my Crew set. Not only are they great for pins, but they’re great weights for patterns and other stuff too.

Gifts for the Bakers
Don’t know if this category is too specific, but we all know someone who likes to bake, and it is important to support their efforts.
Sam Apron – free pattern from Helen’s Closet.
Since my sister introduced me to using a proper scoop for cookie dough, my life hasn’t been the same. I like having several different sizes, and this one* is a favorite. I don’t yet have this one*, but since my favorite cookie person recommended it, I think I might need to get one. (Find some of her top cookie recipes here.)

Miscellaneous Gifts
Cash is always acceptable. I’ve jazzed (or craft-ified) this gift up by folding it into fun shapes. See money origami on YouTube for inspo. (I can personally recommend the heart and the shirt. I’m very intrigued by the butterfly and this cat.
What are some of your favorite gifts?
Happy gifting!
